I've heard a lot about Heat dumps but have never seen one put in.  SEI don't make you put one in so why do ecologics recommend them?

Hi econologic,

Heat Dumps allow for the longevity of a solar system by avoiding stagnation.  Most systems are allowed to stagnate regularly but particularly in tube systems the temperatures reached during stagnation will destroy any antifreeze in the system and damage the insulation and possibly the fittings that are attached to the pipework close to the panels themselves.

Cheers,

S.
