Solar Antifreeze

Conventional antifreeze must never be used in a domestic water supply. Solar Antifreeze is a specialised heat transfer fluid for thermal solar systems. Based on propylene glycol, the antifreeze comes in two types; a pre -diluted version which is ready-to-use and provides frost protection to -28degC. and a concentrate version which can be diluted to provide desired levels of frost protection.

Solar antifreeze will degrade over time with a maximum life expectancy of 5 years in any solar thermal systems. If the antifreeze is exposed to high temperatures over a prolonged period of time such as in stagnating solar thermal systems the antifreeze properties will degrade faster. For this reason we recommend that antifreeze levels are checked regularly particularly before Winter begins and changed at least once every 5 years.
